Whitney Houston Sets US Tour Launch In Chicago
Whitney Houston will perform her first US concert tour dates in five years this summer, with a brief run set to begin in Chicago and end in San Francisco. The 15-date tour schedule was released Friday by Houston's record label, Arista, and will focus on theatres in major markets.
Houston recently performed on VH-1's Divas Live/99 alongside Tina Turner, Cher and Faith Hill. The show drew record ratings for the cable channel, according to press statements issued following the telecast.
Houston's most recent album, My Love Is Your Love, holds the #45 slot on the Billboard pop album chart after 25 weeks of release. The album has been certified double-platinum in the US, signifying label shipments of 2 million copies sold, and quintuple-platinum worldwide.
Venue information for Los Angeles, San Francisco and Detroit stops on the tour has not yet been established, and ticketing information was not available at press time.
