The Derek Trucks Band mounts fall tour
The Derek Trucks Band , the forever-on-tour jam outfit, kicked off its fall itinerary on Friday (10/11) in Hampden-Sydney, VA. The tour will take the band through the South and up the East Coast during October and November.
The group will spend New Year's Eve in Oakland, Calif., opening for two bands fronted by ex-members of the Grateful Dead: Phil Lesh & Friends, fronted by ex-Dead bassist Phil Lesh, and Ratdog, the project of former Dead guitarist Bob Weir.
According to the band's official website, the quartet recently completed rehearsals and songwriting sessions at an unnamed studio.
Derek Trucks is the nephew of Allman Brothers Band drummer Butch Trucks, and has frequently performed as a member of that group.
