Wilco to tour behind orphaned full-length

The rootsy rock band Wilco has mapped out the second leg of its tour, on which it is previewing material from its forthcoming album, "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot."

This jaunt kicks off on Nov. 23 in Wilco's hometown of Chicago, according to the band's spokeswoman, and includes stops in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and Los Angeles. The show at Chicago's Riviera Theatre is part of a three-year tradition of Thanksgiving week gigs in that city.

"Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" was tentatively set for release this fall, but Reprise Records rejected the recording that Wilco turned in. The band then negotiated its release from the label. Around the same time, band member Jay Bennett exited the group.

While Wilco--singer-guitarist Jeff Tweedy, bassist-vocalist John Stirratt, multi-instrumentalist Leroy Bach and drummer Glenn Kotche--is talking with other labels, it made "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" available in its entirety via a stream on its official website. Those songs, however, will soon be replaced by live performances from the first leg of the tour, the spokeswoman said.

Wilco is expected to sign with a new label in November, according to the spokeswoman, and "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" should be released in early 2002. According to the band's website, more tour dates will be added soon.
