Maxwell keeps road trip alive with new dates
Maxwell 's tour in support of his recently released "Now" has been extended into early December, and includes make-up dates for Washington, D.C. and the addition of a second Los Angeles show.
After warming up with seven August shows--each at a different New York venue--Maxwell was due to begin his tour of U.S. theaters on Sept. 8 with a four-night stand at Washington, D.C.'s Constitution Hall. The first show did take place, but the other three shows--on Sept. 9, 11 and 12--were postponed until Wednesday (10/24), Thursday (10/25) and next Tuesday (10/30), respectively.
R&B/hip-hop singer RES has taken over the opening slot on Maxwell's tour, a position previously occupied by chart-topping performer Alicia Keys. RES is due to open through Oct. 30, according to her official website.
An opening act for Maxwell's November and December dates has not been named.
Maxwell's "Now" (Columbia), which hit stores in late August, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, and was certified platinum last month by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album features the hit "Lifetime," which sits at No. 1 on trade publication Radio & Records' latest Urban AC airplay chart.
RES' debut album, "How Do I Do?" (MCA), surfaced in June.
