Ben Folds plans more U.S. dates to follow tour of Japan

Singer, songwriter and pianist Ben Folds is continuing his "Rocking the Suburbs" tour with dates in the U.S. and Japan during November and December.

He begins his U.S. jaunt in Rochester, N.Y., on Nov. 19. On Nov. 22, he is scheduled to perform on NBC's "Late Night with Conan O'Brien."

Indie-rock band Clem Snide, which takes its name from a character in the William S. Burroughs novel "Naked Lunch," opens for Folds in the U.S. through Dec. 10. The band released the album "The Ghost of Fashion" on SpinArt Records last June.

Folds released his second solo effort, "Rockin' the Suburbs" (Epic), in September. Recently, he also released the DVD "The Complete Sessions at West 54th," which features his appearance on the PBS show "Sessions at West 54th," as well as more than 45 minutes of unaired footage.

The first solo album from Folds, who formerly fronted the group Ben Folds Five, was sent to stores in 1998. The album, titled "Fear of Pop, Volume One" (Epic), includes four vocal tracks: two by Folds, one by actor William Shatner and one by Folds' now-wife Frally Hynes.
