Alanis Morissette Pushes "Unplugged" With Custom Videos

Under an Internet promotion scheduled to launch today (10/19), fans of Alanis Morissette can create customized CD ROMs containing four or five of her videos and a choice of cover art. The offering is part of Maverick Records' marketing push for the Nov. 23 release of Morissette's MTV "Unplugged" album.

By paying $7.99 or $8.99 (depending on the number of songs selected), buyers can pick the videos of their choice, in the order of their choice, for their CDs. Billed as ''Video Custom Disc,'' the CDs can be ordered via the Tower Records, Maverick, and official Alanis Morissette websites.

Maverick has also begun to stream a full-length Liquid Audio preview of the Morissette song ''Uninvited'' to various retail, music, lifestyle and radio-station websites.

''Thank U''--a track that was recorded at the ''Unplugged'' session but that won't appear on the CD--will be available for downloading in the Liquid Audio format for those who pre-order ''Unplugged'' or purchase online Morissette's ''Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie'' or ''Jagged Little Pill'' CDs, or the ''Jagged Little Pill Live'' home video.

Morissette's ''Unplugged'' special is scheduled to air on MTV for the third time on Nov. 23.

Morissette is currently touring in Asia, and her camp hasn't confirmed any North American concert appearances. Earlier this year, she toured North America with Tori Amos on the ''5 1/2 Weeks'' tour.
