Aerosmith adds new dates, drops Boston and Philly
Following a recent spate of postponed and canceled concerts, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has recovered from an illness and is back in action. The group has added the first 2002 tour dates to its itinerary, and has simultaneously dropped previously postponed dates from its schedule.
Among the shows that were affected by Tyler's illness were the group's Nov. 4 stop in its hometown of Boston and its Nov. 8 stop in Philadelphia. Both gigs were initially postponed, but have now been canceled outright, according to organizers.
The group has also scrapped its previously scheduled Nov. 25 stop in Greensboro, S.C., due to "scheduling difficulties," according to a venue spokesperson.
Aborted performances in Rhode Island and Kentucky are still classified as "postponed," though no make-up dates have yet been announced.
Despite the cancellations, the group has added three new January dates to its tour route, all of which are scheduled to hit the box office on Saturday (11/17). Details appear below.
Tyler--who is now "doing great," according to a spokesperson--returned to the stage on Monday night (11/12) at New York City's Madison Square Garden, and performed in New Jersey on Thursday night (11/15). The tour continues on Saturday night (11/17) in New Hampshire.
Aerosmith is touring in support of its March release, "Just Push Play" (Columbia), which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
The Cult , whose "Beyond Good and Evil" (Atlantic) surfaced in June, is opening the shows.
