Windham Hill's Winter Solstice tour takes shape
Windham Hill recording artists Liz Story, Will Ackerman and Samite comprise the lineup for this year's Windham Hill Winter Solstice tour, the label's annual holiday-season outing.
New-age pianist Story, a veteran of the annual outing, released her latest album, "Welcome Home: The Very Best of Liz Story," in October. Her most recent collection of all-new material, meanwhile, is 1998's "17 Seconds to Anywhere."
Also in October, new-age guitarist Will Ackerman--Windham Hill Records founder--released his new 15-track collection, "Hearing Voices." The album features guest appearances from Happy Rhodes, Noah Chase, Heather Rankin and world music artist Samite.
Samite, a Ugandan native, is a singer and multi-instrumentalist who fuses traditional African instrumentation with more modern Western sounds. His most recent album is 1999's "Stars to Share," which marks his first album for Windham Hill.
