Nobel Peace Prize concert features Paul McCartney, Destiny's Child
Paul McCartney , Destiny's Child , Natalie Imbruglia, Wyclef Jean, Youssou N'Dour and A-ha will be among the artists to perform at the Nobel Peace Prize 100th Anniversary Concert, which will take place at Norway's Oslo Spektrum on Dec. 11.
Meryl Streep and Liam Neeson will host the concert, which will be filmed for television. The TV broadcast will premier as a two-hour special on the arts channel TRIO on Dec. 16, and will edited down to one hour for a Dec. 21 telecast on the USA cable network.
The concert will feature artists representing every continent. Acts confirmed at press time also include Anastacia, Paul Bateman and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Jan Garbarek, Barbara Hendricks, Kodo and Russell Watson. Additional acts will be announced.
A introductory speech by Crown Prince Haakon of Norway will open the concert.
This year's Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan and to the United Nations. Annan will attend the concert and join former Nobel Peace Prize Laureates who will be present in Oslo for the Centennial celebration.
