Macy Gray cancels club tour
Macy Gray , who was scheduled to kick off a series of U.S. club dates on Friday night (11/30), has scrapped the outing. The singer's New Year's Eve performance in West Hollywood, Calif., however, is still intact.
The dates were canceled due to "commitments in Europe," and will not be rescheduled, according to one venue spokesperson. Ticket refunds are being offered at the point of purchase.
At press time, a spokesperson for Gray had not responded to a request for more information.
The only date that remains on Gray's itinerary is her Dec. 31 performance at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, according to a House of Blues spokesperson. Tickets to that event are priced from $125 to $300, according to the venue's official website. The higher-priced tickets include a buffet dinner.
Gray's latest album, "The Id" (Epic), was released in September and debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Now in its tenth week on that chart, the album has dipped to No. 171, and has sold a total of about 381,000 copies, according to industry sources.
"On How Life Is," Gray's 1999 debut, has shipped more than 3 million copies in the U.S., according to the Recording Industry Association of America. The album features the hit "I Try," for which Gray won the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
