Arrest Made In Disappearance Of Los Lobos Family Member
Police have made an initial arrest following the weekend disappearance of the wife of Los Lobos member Cesar Rosas . Sandra Rosas remains missing after an apparent abduction Saturday night from the family's home near Los Angeles.
Rosas, 47, was last seen by her daughters at the Rosas' Rowland Heights home at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday (10/23). When they returned to the house at about 11 p.m., their mother and the family's van were gone. Shattered glass was found in the driveway, and the door to the home was left wide open, according to authorities.
One of Sandra Rosas' daughters then reached her on a cell phone, and the conversation led the daughter to believe her mother was being held against her will, according to the AP. The daughter reportedly said she heard a voice on the call she believed to be that of her mother's half-brother, Gabriel Gomez, 39, of Whittier.
Police later found the van in an undisclosed nearby city, and arrested Gomez on investigation of kidnapping charges, the AP reported.
Cesar Rosas was on the road with Los Lobos in Louisiana when he received word of his wife's disappearance. He told a gathering of press outside his home on Monday that he last spoke her at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Later that night, the band took the stage at the House of Blues in New Orleans.
Rosas had returned home upon word of his wife's disappearance and Los Lobos performed without him at The Grant Street Dancehall in Lafayette on Sunday (10/24).
Los Lobos is currently touring in support of their recently-released album ''This Time'' (Hollywood). The band's next scheduled performance is Nov. 3 at the Georgia Theater in Athens, Ga. At press time, no cancellations had been announced.
