Diana Krall schedules spring 2002 tour
Jazz artist Diana Krall is heading out in March on an extensive U.S. tour to promote her latest record, "The Look of Love." She will hit 36 cities in 12 weeks.
The jaunt kicks off with a two-night stand at Seattle's Paramount Theatre on March 9-10. The itinerary also includes multiple nights in Washington, D.C., and Denver.
Krall is planning an April 4 New York benefit show for those affected by the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, but a venue has not been named yet.
"The Look of Love" (Verve), released in September, blends cinematic ballads and bossa nova tunes. It was produced by Verve Music Group Chairman Tommy LiPuma and features the London Symphony Orchestra. The album debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 album chart and at No. 1 on the magazine's Top Jazz Albums charts. It currently sits at No. 74 on the Billboard 200, and at No. 1 on Top Jazz Albums.
The Nainamo, British Columbia, native earned her first Grammy nomination for her Nat King Cole tribute album "All for You." In 1999, she won a Best Jazz Vocal Performance for her platinum-selling album "When I Look in Your Eyes." The same year, she was the first jazz artist in 25 years to be nominated for a Grammy in the Album of the Year category, which Santana won.
