Linkin Park's Projekt Revolution to feature Cypress Hill
Rap-rock group Linkin Park has announced plans for its first Projekt Revolution tour. The month-long jaunt will also include performances from Cypress Hill , Adema and turntablist DJ Z-Trip.
The tour, which kicks off Jan. 29 at the World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo., will include local DJs competing prior to Linkin Park's set.
"This is our first chance to put together a concert experience of this diversity and magnitude," Linkin Park's MC-vocalist Mike Shinoda said in a press release. "After this, we go home to write and record the next album, so we are determined to make this tour special."
Linkin Park just released the VHS/DVD "Frat Party at the Pankaka Festival." Directed by Bill Berg-Hillinger and Linkin Park’s Mr. Hahn, "Frat Party" features live performances, videos and backstage footage. Linkin Park's major-label debut album, the four-times-platinum "Hybrid Theory," sits at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Cypress Hill released its new album, "Stoned Raiders" (Sony/Ruffhouse/Columbia), on Dec. 4. Rappers Kurupt, MC Ren, Method Man and Redman are among those making special appearances on the record.
Adema, led by singer Marky Chavez (the half-brother of Korn frontman Jonathan Davis), released its self-titled debut for Arista on Aug. 21. The album spawned the single "Giving In."
DJ Z-Trip was part of Cypress Hill's ill-fated early fall Smoke Out tour. The turntablist, who opened for Jane's Addiction at the Coachella Festival in southen California earlier this year, recently released the limited-edition CD "Uneasy Listening Vol.1." It is available at Turntable Lab's website.
