Bob Dylan announces five Southern dates

Singer-songwriter Bob Dylan has lined up a tour of Southern cities for early 2002.

The jaunt kicks off on Jan. 31 in Orlando, Fla., and according to his official website, wraps up on Feb. 9 in Atlanta. There will be no opening band.

Tickets go on sale on Dec. 15 for all five shows. However, a special pre-sale offer began yesterday (12/11) on Ticketmaster.com. Passwords and more information is available on Dylan's website.

Dylan's latest album, "Love and Theft" (Columbia), features performances by members of Dylan’s touring band: Larry Campbell (guitar, violin, banjo, mandolin), Charlie Sexton (guitar), Tony Garnier (bass), David Kemper (drums) and Augie Meyers (vox organ, Hammond B3 organ, accordion).

Dylan's classic song "Blowin' in the Wind" appears on the CD "God Bless America" (Columbia). A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the compilation CD will be donated to the Twin Towers Fund, which aids the families of police, fire, EMS and other city employees involved in rescue efforts following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
