Bruce Cockburn lines up acoustic outing to back hits collection
Bruce Cockburn will follow the Jan. 15 release of his forthcoming greatest hits album with a round of acoustic dates that will kick off at the end of February.
Though dates and cities for the outing have been pinned down, a number of venues are yet to be confirmed, according to Cockburn's manager.
Titled "Anything Anytime Anywhere (Singles 1979-2002)" (Rounder), Cockburn's hits collection takes its name from one of two new tracks that the Canadian singer-songwriter recorded for the release, according to Rounder. The album also features 14 previously released songs, and a second new track titled "My Beat," which features a guest appearance from Patty Griffin.
Earlier this month, Cockburn and Griffin were among several artists who participated in a seven-date benefit tour dubbed Concerts for a Landmine Free World. The outing also featured fellow singer-songwriters Emmylou Harris, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Bruce Cockburn, Steve Earle and Nanci Griffith.
Cockburn, who released his first album in 1970, was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at this year's Juno awards, the Canadian equivalent of the American Grammys.
In addition to releasing the forthcoming greatest hits album, Rounder and True North Records plan next year to begin re-releasing 18 digitally remastered Cockburn albums, including "In the Falling Dark" (1976), "Dancing in the Dragon's Jaws" (1979), "Humans" (1980) and "Stealing Fire" (1984), according to a press release.
