Briefly: New albums due from Korn, Wu-Tang Killa Bees
plus: Randy Newman signs with new label. The week in spins. Rob Zombie directs two new videos.
Korn , which hasn't released an album of new material since 1999's "Issues" is "putting the finishing touches" on an album that's scheduled for release in the spring of 2002, according to the band's publicist. Michael Beinhorn (Soundgarden, Ozzy Osbourne, Marilyn Manson) is producing the as-yet-untitled album.
The second album from Wu-Tang Killa Bees--featuring Wu-Tang Clan members U-God, Inspectah Deck, RZA and, on at least one track, the currently incarcerated Ol' Dirty Bastard--is due in stores on Feb. 26.
Other Killa Bees include Cappadonna, Killarmy, Sunz of Man and several new Wu-Tang proteges.
Nonesuch Records announced that it has signed songwriter-composer Randy Newman. His first release for the label will be an album of new material.
Newman's most recent album was 1999's "Bad Love," released by Dreamworks.
The most played songs on radio for the week of Dec. 11-17, according to Broadcast Data Systems:
- Pop: Pink - "Get This Party Started"
Rock: Creed - "My Sacrifice"
Alternative: Linkin Park - "In the End"
Urban: Usher - "You Got It Bad"
Country: Alan Jackson - "Where Were You"
During the three-week pause in the Merry Mayhem tour that came after Ozzy Osbourne broke his leg, Rob Zombie directed two videos in Los Angeles: for his own track "Never Gonna Stop (The Red, Red Kroovy)" and for Ozzy's "Dreamer." Both videos will be released early next year, according to Geffen Records.
