System of a Down sets up North American outing
Already scheduled to tour Australia and New Zealand this month and Europe in March, System of a Down has now lined up a two-week tour of North America that kicks off in Las Vegas on Valentine's Day.
The Southern California metal act continues to tour in support of last year's "Toxicity" (American), the follow-up to its 1998 self-titled debut. "Toxicity," which was released in September, has sold about 1.4 million copies to date, according to industry sources.
The album will move up to No. 30 on the forthcoming Billboard 200 album chart, a 17-spot jump from its position on the previous week's chart. The album's first single, "Chop Suey," sits at No. 7 on the current edition of Billboard's Modern Rock Track chart. That song's music video can be viewed at the band's official website.
System of a Down toured the U.S. last fall as part of the Pledge of Allegiance tour, which also featured Slipknot, Mudvayne and Rammstein.
