Ani DiFranco adds solo acoustic shows to schedule

Folk-punk artist Ani DiFranco [ tickets ], who often visits more than 200 venues in a single year, will hit the road again in February. Her burgeoning tour schedule now sports over 20 dates.

Following a series of concerts with her band--drummer Daren Hahn, bassist Jason Mercer, keyboardist Julie Wolf and Hans Tueber on horns--DiFranco will divest herself of her compatriots for solo acoustic tour, marking the first time that the fiercely independent singer-songwriter has toured alone since 1994. According to DiFranco's website, more solo dates will be added soon.

On Jan. 19, DiFranco will appear along with Bruce Hornsby, John Popper, Joe Henry and others in "An Evening of Music for Reproductive Freedom" in Washington D.C. This benefit concert organized by the Voters for Choice will mark the 29th anniversary of Roe v Wade.
