311 to launch U.S. tour with Hoobastank in February
Currently touring Europe with fellow alt-rock act Incubus, 311 will return to the U.S. in February to launch a headlining run through the States. The group continues to tour behind last year's "From Chaos."
Though the first date currently set on the group's U.S. itinerary is a Feb. 28 performance in San Francisco, the tour is expected to begin on Feb. 25, according to management. More dates will be announced soon.
311 's upcoming outing includes its second annual 3-11 Day show in New Orleans, where the mayor of the city has officially proclaimed March 11 "3-11 Day" in honor of the band, according to a press release. There, the group plans to put on an "extended performance" that will also feature special guests; last year, the group's 3-11 Day show lasted 3 hours and 11 minutes.
"From Chaos," 311's first release for Volcano Records, was released last June and debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The group plans to release the album's third single, "Amber," next month, and last week shot that song's music video in Laguna, Calif.
Late last year, 311 released a new home video titled "Enlarged to Show Detail 2," the sequel to "Enlarged to Show Detail," its platinum-selling 1996 home video. The latter release, originally available solely in VHS format, has now been reissued on DVD. Both videos feature live performances, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage. More information about the releases can be found at 311's official website.
Hoobastank, which released its self-titled debut on Island Records in November, will open for 311 on the upcoming U.S. run. The group's hit single "Crawling in the Dark" has propelled "Hoobastank," which two weeks ago sat at No. 138 on the Billboard 200, up to No. 72. The group's official website is streaming the album in its entirety.
