Charts: Creed's 'Weathered' enters its eighth week at No. 1
Creed 's "Weathered" will again grace the top slot on the forthcoming Billboard 200 album chart, marking the album's eighth consecutive week at No. 1. The album is one of five Top 10 releases that will stay put this week.
"Weathered" (Wind-Up), the Florida-based rock trio's third album, sold about 138,000 copies during its most recent week in stores, and has now sold a total of about 3.9 million copies since its release less than two months ago, according to industry sources. The group, which today (1/16) launched a tour, continues to ride the top of the singles chart with its latest single, "My Sacrifice."
Linkin Park's "Hybrid Theory" (Warner Bros.), which was recently crowned the top-selling album of 2001, remains at No. 2. After 64 weeks in stores, the album has sold about 5.4 million copies.
Also holding steady this week are Ludacris' "Word of Mouf" (Def Jam) at No. 3 and Nickelback's "Silver Side Up" (Roadrunner) at No. 4.
Nas' "Stillmatic" (Columbia) jumps four spots from No. 9 to No. 5. Two of the album's singles--"Got Ur Self A … " and "Ether"--are riding various rap and hip-hop charts this week.
Also up is Pink's "Missundaztood" (Arista), which climbs two spots to No. 6, due in part to the success of current single "Get the Party Started," which sits at No. 2 on trade publication Radio & Records' latest Pop airplay chart.
Ja Rule's "Pain Is Love" (Def Jam) remains at No. 7.
Alicia Keys' "Songs in A Minor" leaps back into the Top 10 at No. 8, up from No. 13 last week. The album likely got a boost from Keys' recent Grammy nomination and her Jan. 9 appearance at the American Music Awards, at which she received the award for Best New Artist--Pop or Rock 'n Roll Music.
Closing out the Top 10, and dropping four spots each this week, are the "Now That's What I Call Music! Vol. 8" compilation at No. 9 and Enya's "A Day Without Rain" (Reprise) at No. 10.
The relatively light load of new releases that hit stores last week results in few debuts on the chart. Among the meager group entering the chart are the "I Am Sam" soundtrack (V2) at No. 25 and Michael Jackson's "Greatest Hits: History Vol. 1" (Epic) at No. 115.
As was the case last week, the majority of this week's Top 200 albums showed a drop-off in sales from their previous weeks' figures
