Buddy Guy opens another busy touring year in February

Although George "Buddy" Guy became eligible for Social Security last year, the influential blues icon isn't ready to retire from the touring circuit.

Guy, whom Jimi Hendrix cited as an influence, returns to the road on Feb. 1 for an extended headlining road trip on the small theatre circuit that will take him throughout the states and to Australia. After taking much of April off, he heads for Japan.

Last year, Guy released three albums, including the comprehensive "20th Century Masters--The Millennium Collection: The Best of Buddy Guy ," a collection of some of his best-loved songs, recorded pre-1990.

Guy has played with Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, and Junior Wells. He opened for the Rolling Stones on their 1970 tour.
