Barry White Cancels 12 Dates Of European Tour, Citing Exhaustion
Citing exhaustion, ultra-smooth soul singer Barry White has cancelled the remaining twelve dates of his European tour with Earth, Wind and Fire. He is currently on route to San Diego for a health checkup, according to a Wednesday Reuters report. At press time, White's label's publicist was waiting for an update on his health.
Last August, White, 54, postponed dates with Earth, Wind & Fire while he rested in a hospital for a month, also for exhaustion. He has a history of hypertension.
Earth, Wind & Fire will play the remaining shows without him, according to the group's management. Representing both sides of R&B--provocative makeout music and get-down, get-funky grooves--the two superstar acts were to hit major arenas throughout the United Kingdom.
After the the co-headliners' final arena show in Sheffield, White was to play two nights in Brussels, including New Year's Eve. Earth, Wind & Fire will spend New Year's in Miami, playing private dates from Dec. 29 to Jan. 3.
White was touring behind "Staying Power" (Private Music/Windham Hill), which features Chaka Khan on "The Longer We Make Love." The album was certified gold last November.
