Linkin Park, Cypress Hill, others kick off joint tour
Linkin Park on Tuesday night (1/29) will launch its Projekt Revolution Tour, a month-long outing that will also feature Cypress Hill , Adema and DJ Z-Trip.
A DJ competition will precede each night's performance. Two local, unsigned DJs in each city will compete to win a trip to perform with Linkin Park and Korn in Mexico City later this year, according to the tour's official website. More details about the competition appear at the site.
Last month, Linkin Park released the VHS/DVD "Frat Party at the Pankaka Festival." Directed by Bill Berg-Hillinger and Linkin Park's Mr. Hahn, "Frat Party" features live performances, videos and backstage footage. The DVD version also contains a number of hidden features, access to some of which has been revealed on the band's official website.
Linkin Park's major-label debut, "Hybrid Theory," was the top-selling album of 2001. The album sold a total of about 4.8 million copies last year.
Also last month, Cypress Hill released its new album, "Stoned Raiders" (Columbia), which features guest appearances from Kurupt, MC Ren, Method Man and Redman. Streaming versions of the music videos for the album's tracks "Lowrider" and "Trouble" can be viewed at Cypress Hill's official website.
Adema, led by singer Marky Chavez--half-brother of Korn frontman Jonathan Davis--released its self-titled debut for Arista last summer, which features the single "Giving In."
DJ Z-Trip was part of Cypress Hill's ill-fated Smoke Out tour last year. The turntablist also opened for Jane's Addiction at last year's Coachella Festival in Southern California and recently released a limited-edition CD titled "Uneasy Listening Vol.1."
