Rollins Band to record live album on upcoming U.S. dates

Rollins Band , fronted by namesake Henry Rollins , will follow its current tour of Europe with a handful of late February and early March U.S. theater performances.

After warming up with shows in Maryland, Massachusetts and New York, Rollins and company will head to Chicago for a two-night stand at the Metro. The back-to-back performances will be recorded and released in the summer as the group's first live CD, according to the band's publicist.

The group is touring in support of last year's "Nice," its first release for Sanctuary Records, and its second release to feature the current lineup of Rollins, guitarist Jim Wilson, bassist Marcus Blake and drummer Jason Mackenroth.

Rollins, in a prepared statement, explained that he and the band recorded the album quickly, using simple techniques rather than studio gimmickry.

"This record, like the last one, 'Get Some Go Again,' was made in a very simple fashion," said Rollins. "Analog two-inch tape, real instruments, cut live, no drum beats fixed, no vocals pitched, just music played hard, good sounds going onto tape, very few takes, next."

Rollins Band's upcoming U.S. dates will be "some of the only stateside shows for the band in 2002," according to a letter Rollins posted on his official website
