Talking Heads , who haven't performed together in more than 10 years, will take the stage during the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, bassist Tina Weymouth announced on the talkingheads.net fan site. The band's original line-up included Weymouth, vocalist David Byrne, guitarist Jerry Harrison and drummer Chris Frantz. The induction ceremony takes place on March 18 in New York, and will be aired on VH1 on March 20.
Independent label No Quarter Records has reissued Seattle band Earth's 1995 EP "Sunn Amps and Smashed Guitars" with a bonus track titled "Divine and Bright" that features Kurt Cobain on vocals, according to RollingStone.com, which reported, "Label owner Mike Quinn says the EP won't come with a sticker announcing Cobain's participation." The track was recorded in 1990.
According to MelodicRock.com, Sammy Hagar and guitarist Neal Schon (Journey) are forming a group with Deen Castronovo (Hardline) on drums.
All-female rock quartet the Donnas, who have released four albums for the Northern California indie label Lookout! Records, has signed a "long-term" deal with Atlantic Records, according to a press release. The band's major label debut is due in stores this summer.
The Civic Tour, named for the Honda-made sub-compact car, will return in 2002. The headlining band and dates will be announced at a Feb. 15 press conference in New York. Last year, Civic Tours featured Blink-182 in major markets and Everclear in secondary markets.
According to the Associated Press, "James Blackwood, the last founding member of the Blackwood Brothers Quartet and one of the giants of Southern gospel music, died [on Sunday (2/3)] of complications of a stroke in Memphis. He was 82."
