Rancid, NoFX set dates to back forthcoming split album

Rancid [ tickets ] and NoFX cover each other's material on a forthcoming release from independent label BYO Records, and the punk bands will back the album with a short stint of late April co-headlining dates.

The album, titled "Split Series III," is scheduled for release on March 5, and features a half-dozen songs by each band. Samples of two songs are available on the BYO Records website.

Rancid is expected to return to the studio this summer to begin work on a new album. Its last release was a self-titled album, which hit stores in 2000.

NoFX, meanwhile, is scheduled to play more than two dozen North American headlining dates in March as it continues to support its 2000 release, "Pump Up the Valuum" (Epitaph).
