The band Fuel has asked Toyota "to refrain from using the 'Fuel the Music Tour' moniker in conjunction with a rock concert that the car manufacturer is sponsoring," according to a press release. "The group became aware of the problem when an ad for the 'Fuel The Music Tour' ran in the February issue of a major music magazine on the same page as a photo of the band FUEL. Fans of FUEL--who are off the road after touring for 18 months--began emailing their website and inquiring about the group’s participation in the 'Fuel The Music Tour.'"
An investigation by Los Angeles authorities found that George Harrison died at a Los Angeles home that was once leased by Paul McCartney. The address that was originally given as his place of death did not exist, prompting the investigation.
Oscar nominees for Best Original Song are Paul McCartney's "Vanilla Sky" (from the film "Vanilla Sky"), Sting's "Until..." ("Kate & Leopold"), Enya's "May It Be" ("The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring"), Randy Newman's "If I Didn't Have You" ("Monsters, Inc."), and Diane Warren's "There You'll Be," which was performed by Faith Hill ("Pearl Harbor").
According to the Music Industry News Network, "The independent record trade associations of Australia (AIR), Canada (CIRPA) and the UK (AIM) have joined forces in a global partnership to create the World Independent Network (WIN)."
The American and European counterparts of these associations--the Association of Independent Music and the Independent Music Companies Association, respectively--have reportedly committed to join WIN.
The most-played songs on radio for the week of Feb. 4-10, according to Broadcast Data Systems:
- Pop: Nickelback, "How You Remind Me"
Rock: Puddle of Mudd - "Blurry"
Alternative: Puddle of Mudd, "Blurry"
Urban: Michael Jackson, "Butterflies"
Country: Steve Holy, "Good Morning Beautiful"
