Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit Lineup and Dates Announced
Neil Young 's 16th annual Bridge School benefit concerts will feature marquee artists Foo Fighters, Thom Yorke of Radiohead and Ryan Adams .
The concerts will take place Oct. 26 and 27 at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, Calif. Other artists scheduled to appear include Young himself, folk-pop legend James Taylor, Grateful Dead remnants the Other Ones, Hawaiian surfer-songwriter Jack Johnson, pop-sensation pianist Vanessa Carlton and Jack Black's novelty act Tenacious D.
Yorke's solo appearance (and the expectation that he will showcase new Radiohead material) continues a tradition of high-profile experimentation at the Bridge School shows. In previous years, Green Day surprised fans with an acoustic set and Smashing Pumpkins appeared with Marilyn Manson. A CD of performances from the first 10 years of Bridge School shows, "Bridge School Concerts Vol. 1" (WEA/Reprise), was released in 1997.
Most artists will perform both dates, but MTV.com reports the Foo Fighters will only perform Saturday evening and the Other Ones will only perform Sunday afternoon.
The Bridge School is a Bay Area educational facility for children with severe speech and physical impediments. Young and his wife Pegi have been intimately affiliated with the school since its inception in 1986.
