Santana kicks off 2003 tour in the South

Santana opens a new round of U.S. concert dates in February, when the band tackles an itinerary that focuses on Texas and Florida.

After a March-April tour of New Zealand, Australia, China and Japan, Santana will take a break before embarking on more U.S. dates in June and July.

Led by ace guitarist Carlos Santana, the group is touring in support of "Shaman," an album that has been certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Carlos Santana teamed with a roster of high-powered guest artists on "Shaman." Among others, guests this time around include Seal, Dido, Macy Gray, P.O.D. and Michelle Branch (who is featured on the album's first single, "Game of Love"). It's the same formula that Santana used on its 1999 comeback album "Supernatural," which has sold 14 million copies.

Santana dominated the 2000 GRAMMY® Awards ceremony, claiming eight trophies to tie a record set by Michael Jackson in 1983.
