Paul Weller enlists full band for North American tour
Influential British singer-songwriter Paul Weller has unveiled the initial round North American dates in support of his new album, "Illumination."
The tour marks Weller's first North American outing with a full band in almost six years, according to Yep Roc Records. His backing band will include Steve White (drums), Ocean Colour Scene's Steve Cradock (guitar) and Damon Minchella (bass).
In addition to material from the new album, Weller's set list is expected to include several songs from the Jam and Style Council, the two bands that made him famous.
"Illumination" was released in Europe last September, and is scheduled for release in the U.S. on Jan. 14. Weller produced the album, with Noonday Underground's Simon Dine getting co-production credit on two tracks.
The U.S. release of "Illumination" will include three UK B-sides and a bonus DVD containing videos for the album's first two UK singles ("It's Written In The Stars" and "Leafy Mysteries"). The DVD also includes three live tracks from Weller's July 2002 concert in London’s Hyde Park, where he performed before a crowd of more than 22,000.
Last year, Interscope issued the two-DVD set "The Jam: 1977-1982: The Complete Jam on Film." It includes more than two hours of live material, clips from various European television appearances and videos for 16 of the band's singles.
