Audioslave ready to tear it up in U.S. clubs
Audioslave , the quartet comprising former Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell and former members of Rage Against the Machine, sets out on its first U.S. tour next month.
The group has booked a month of dates at small venues throughout the U.S., including two-night stands in Chicago, Boston and San Francisco. The itinerary also includes a lone Canadian performance on March 1.
Cornell and ex-Ragers Tom Morello (guitar), Tim Commerford (bass) and Brad Wilk (drums) are touring in support of their self-titled debut, which they released in late November. The album sold more than a half- million copies during its first seven weeks in stores, according to industry sources.
Driving the album's sales is first single "Cochise," the music video for which is streaming at Audioslave's official website.
Last week, the band shot the video for the album's second single, "Like a Stone." Meiert Avis--who directed U2's first eight videos and has also worked with Bruce Springsteen--directed the clip.
Morello, Commerford and Wilk hooked up with Cornell to form Audioslave after Rage frontman Zack de la Rocha quit the group in October of 2000. Soundgarden disbanded in 1997.
