CKY go Axl-free on headlining run
Fresh off of their opening stint on the recently aborted Guns N' Roses comeback tour, the boys of CKY gets top-billing on their own winter outing.
The Philadelphia-area quartet will be hitting clubs and theaters throughout the U.S. in support of its second major-label release, last year's "Infiltrate Destroy Rebuild."
Last month, CKY--a.k.a. Camp Kill Yourself--got an early holiday break when Guns N' Roses unceremoniously canceled the remaining dates of their first tour in nearly a decade. The tour cancellation came on the heels of G N' R frontman Axl Rose's Dec. 6 no-show at the First Union Center in Philadelphia, which resulted in the tour's second full-fledged riot. (The first came when Rose failed to materialize for the Nov. 7 kick-off in Vancouver.)
CKY shared their thoughts about the cancellation in a tour-journal entry posted at the group's official website.
"Guns N' Roses tour cancelled! Typical, and freakishly expected. Haha. They really f---ed the Philly fans over, really bad idea. I wouldn't suggest they come back."
CKY was boosted into the national spotlight when drummer Jess Margera's brother, Bam--a pro-skateboarder and member of the "Jackass" crew--used the group's music in several of his videos. Additional notoriety came when some of the group's songs were featured on "Jackass."
