The Sea and Cake set dates behind 'One Bedroom'
With a new album titled "One Bedroom" now in stores, underground rock band the Sea and Cake spend March and April on a North American club tour.
The Chicago outfit previewed many of the songs on "One Bedroom"--the band's sixth album--on its 2002 tour dates. The CD was originally scheduled to hit stores last October, but reportedly was pushed back because the band's label, Thrill Jockey, was concentrating on a glut of late 2002 releases.
Among the tracks on "One Bedroom" is a cover of David Bowie's "Sound & Vision," which marks the first time a cover song has appeared on a Sea and Cake album.
After eight years as a band, the Sea and Cake's lineup remains the same: Sam Prekop (vocals and guitars), Erik Claridge (bass), John McEntire (drums), and Archer Prewitt (guitar).
The four members--all of whom were known on the Chicago indie scene prior to forming Sea & Cake--originally conceived of the group as a one-off project. McEntire is still a member of Tortoise , and Prewitt released a solo album titled "Three" in 2002.
