The Boss, Faith Hill and others to perform at GRAMMY awards
Bruce Springsteen , Faith Hill , Norah Jones , Coldplay and Nelly featuring Kelly Rowland will be among the performers at the 45th Annual GRAMMY® Awards.
All of the newly named performers are among this year's pool of GRAMMY nominees, with Springsteen, Jones and Nelly vying for five nominations apiece.
Seven-time GRAMMY winner Springsteen racked up his slew of nominations thanks to last July's "The Rising." The album--which the New Jersey rock vet has said was inspired by the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks--is nominated for Album of the Year and Best Rock Album, while its title track is up for Song of the Year and Best Rock Song. Springsteen is also up for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance for the title track.
Jones is among this year's nominees for Best New Artist, while her chart-topping, debut album, "Come Away With Me," has a shot at Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. The singer is also a contender for Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance" for her hit "Don't Know Why."
Nelly's "Nellyville" is vying for Album of the Year and Best Rap Album, while the album's track "Dilemma"--featuring Kelly Rowland--is in the running for Record of the Year and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. The St. Louis rapper is also competing for Best Male Rap Solo Vocal Performance for the hit single "Hot In Herre."
Coldplay--whose "Parachutes" took home last year's award for Best Alternative Music Album--is competing in that same category this year for their latest album, "A Rush of Blood to the Head." The group is also in contention for the Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for the track "In My Place."
Country chanteuse Hill, a three-time GRAMMY winner, is up for her fourth overall trophy, this time for Best Female Country Vocal Performance for her single "Cry."
The 45th GRAMMY Awards are set to take place on Feb. 23 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, and will be broadcast live on CBS. The broadcast will be specially formatted for High Definition TV and 5.1 Surround Sound, according to a press release.
The event will also be broadcast on various radio stations via the Westwood One radio network, and will be covered online at GRAMMY.com and AOL Keyword: GRAMMY.
