Guns N' Roses rioters caught on tape, sought by police
Canadian authorities have launched a website that features photos and video footage of rioters sought for allegedly trashing a Vancouver arena last November.
The "Vancouver Police Riot Investigation Web Page" displays pictures of 47 "persons of interest." Police are asking the public to help them identify the people shown in the photos, and they have set up email addresses and anonymous tip lines for that purpose.
Each photo of a "person of interest" is linked to a sub-page that contains additional still-shots of that person, as well as video clips that were taken during the Nov. 7 riot at General Motors Place.
A message posted at the site says that the pictures represent unidentified people whom police are "interested in speaking to about the incident," and explains that "the term 'Persons of Interest' does not necessarily imply the commission of any criminal offence(s) by any of the parties depicted."
The video clips largely comprise footage of rioters outside the venue smashing glass doors and windows.
The riot occurred after the opening night of Guns N' Roses first tour since 1993 was canceled at the last minute when historically unreliable lead singer Axl Rose pulled a no-show. Ticket-holders who had already gathered outside of the venue subsequently began vandalizing the building, reportedly causing about $400,000-worth of damage. Police used dogs and pepper spray to break up the melee.
The Guns N' Roses tour was ultimately canceled in early December after another last-minute cancellation--this time in Philadelphia, and announced following the opening act's set--led to another riot.
Guns N' Roses' management reportedly claims that the group is still planning to release its monumentally delayed album "Chinese Democracy," though no specific timeframe has been announced.
