Yo La Tengo sets up spring tour to launch new album
Yo La Tengo 's spring plans include the early-April release of its latest album, and concert dates that bookend the album's arrival in stores.
Titled "Summer Sun," the new album surfaces on April 8. Prior to that, the indie rockers will play a handful of March dates, and following the album's release, the group kicks off a more-formidable itinerary.
"Don't Have to Be So Sad," the first single from "Summer Sun," is available as a free MP3 download from Matador Records' Yo La Tengo website.
"Summer Sun" comes in the wake of last year's "The Sounds of the Sounds of Science," an instrumental collection that the group laid down as the score to French filmmaker Jean Painleve's documentaries of underwater life.
The band's new album also follows last December's "Merry Christmas from Yo La Tengo," a collection that the group's official website describes as the "quintessential jazz Christmas album."
The group's last non-holiday, non-movie-score release is 2000's critical favorite "And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out."
