Ben Kweller plans to road test new material

Singer-songwriter Ben Kweller , who continues to back his 2002 solo-debut "Sha Sha" with extensive road work, is expected to unveil some new songs on his upcoming U.S. tour dates.

According to Kweller's official website, the Texas-born, Brooklyn-based artist has written several songs for his sophomore solo album, and he'll try a few of them out on audiences in the coming weeks.

Kweller continues to push "Sha Sha," however, and soon will make a video for the track "Commerce, TX" with director Lance Bangs.

All of the 21-year-old Kweller's upcoming U.S. shows will be all-ages affairs.

In March, Kweller tours Australia with Ben Folds and Ben Lee. The tour has been appropriately dubbed "The Bens."

Kweller first became widely known as the frontman of Radish when he was just 16 years old. The band--hyped as the next Nirvana--signed to Mercury Records after a frenzied bidding war amongst major labels. The group's 1997 debut, "Restraining Bolt," didn't strike a nerve with the public or with critics, however. Radish never released a follow-up album, and disbanded by the end of the decade.
