Bob Dylan and Paul Simon Confirm Plans For Two Month Tour

Bob Dylan and Paul Simon will kick off a 32-date tour June 6th, their first formal work together since establishing themselves as individual songwriting icons in the 1960's. The tour, announced on Monday (4/5), will feature Dylan and Simon in revolving headlining slots during the run, each performing a 75-minute set before joining for a set of duets to close the show.

Dylan has taken few breaks from the road since releasing 1997's Time Out Of Mind, which went on to win three 1998 Grammy awards, including Album of the Year. Simon, on the other hand, has not toured since 1992, raising the mystique of the unique pairing.

In a USA Today interview, both artists expressed a longtime fondness for each other as friends and as artists.

''I like Bob,'' said Simon, ''I like his music, I've known him for a long time, and it's a nice chance to play. I like the idea of where we came from and what we evolved into.''

Dylan responded, ''...he's written extroardinary songs, hasn't he? I consider him one of the pre-eminent songwriters of the times. Every song he does has got a vitality that you don't find everywhere.''

Tickets for several dates on the tour are tentatively scheduled to go on sale this weekend, though specifics could not be verified at press time. Final details will appear in Livedaily.com Weekend on Friday morning.

Dylan is currently on a European tour which is scheduled to end May 2nd in Germany.
