O.A.R. signs with major label, new album due in May
Longtime do-it-yourselfers O.A.R. --a.k.a. Of a Revolution--have signed a multi-album deal with Atlantic Records imprint Lava, and are in the studio ahead of their March tour dates.
According to a spokesperson for Lava, the band is currently recording a new studio album titled "Between Now and Then" with producer John Alagia (Dave Matthews, John Mayer).
The album will be packaged with a limited-edition bonus DVD containing two new live tracks and a live version of their concert staple "That Was a Crazy Game of Poker. All three tracks will be recorded during the band's upcoming Feb. 18 show at New York's Irving Plaza.
Lava Records is scheduled to release "In Between Now and Then," the group's fifth album, on May 27.
O.A.R. hasn't issued a new studio album since 1999's "Souls Aflame," which was re-released by indie Everfine Records in August of 2000.
The band--which has built a large grassroots following by touring extensively and by encouraging fans to record and trade its music--is scheduled to hit the road with Pseudopod and Broussard in March.
Pseudopod is supporting its self-titled 2002 major-label debut. Last November, the group cut short its tour behind the album so that frontman Kevin Carlberg could undergo surgery to remove a malignant brain tumor.
Broussard released his debut, "Momentary Setback," last September.
