Eminem, U2 among Oscar's music nominees

Best-selling rap star Eminem can now add "Academy Award Nominee" to his lengthy list achievements, but not for his acting prowess.

Eminem--who starred in last year's semi-autobiographical "8 Mile"--is nominated in the original-song category for "Lose Yourself," a cut featured on the film's chart-topping soundtrack. The Detroit rapper faces off against U2 , which is nominated for the "Gangs of New York" track "The Hands That Built America;" and Paul Simon, who got a nod for "Father and Daughter" from the animated feature "The Wild Thornberrys Movie."

Also nominated in the category is the "Chicago" track "I Moved On," which was written by John Kander and Fred Ebbs, and is performed in the film by actresses Renee Zellweger and Katherine Zeta-Jones; and "Burn It Blue" by Elliot Goldenthal and Julie Taymor, a song from the Selma Hayek film "Frida."

Classical composers represented in the original-score category include John Williams--who has now racked up a career total of more than 40 Oscar nominations--for the film "Catch Me If You Can;" Elmer Bernstein for "Far From Heaven;" Elliot Goldenthal for "Frida;" Philip Glass for "The Hours;" and Thomas Newman for "Road to Perdition."

The 75th annual Academy Awards ceremony takes place on March 23 and will be broadcast on ABC. A complete list of this year's nominees, as well as extensive information about the event, is available at the official Academy Awards website.
