Macy Gray previews new album during month-long tour
Macy Gray will road test material from her new album during a tour that kicks off nearly two months before the disc hits stores.
Gray is scheduled to spend most of March working her way from the West Coast to the East Coast, touching down at various clubs and theaters along the way.
The R&B singer is expected to perform material from her forthcoming third album, "The Trouble With Being Myself," which is scheduled for an April 29 release.
A short clip of the new album's first single, "When I See You," is streaming at Gray's official website.
"The Trouble with Being Myself" is the follow-up to Gray's 2001 set, "The Id." Her critically acclaimed 1999 debut, "On How Life Is," features her breakthrough hit, "I Try," which earned the singer a Best Female Pop Vocal Performance GRAMMY® in 2001.
Last summer, moviegoers caught a glimpse of Gray in the film "Spider-Man." A new version of "The Id" track "My Nutmeg Fantasy"--which features Angie Stone and Mos Def--appears on the film's soundtrack. Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello remixed the cut.
