Michael W. Smith, Third Day 'Come Together' again
Christian pop acts Michael W. Smith and Third Day, who wrapped up their inaugural "Come Together & Worship" arena tour in November, will bring the tour to the West in May.
According to organizers, the first "Come Together" tour--which combined live performances by the headliners and speaking by minister and author Max Lucado--visited 16 cities and logged an average per-night attendance of about 11,500.
"It's been an amazing few weeks," Michael W. Smith said in a statement issued after last year's tour. "Having the opportunity to spend time with the Third Day guys was great, and Max Lucado brought everything together by adding elements that demonstrated the heart of this tour."
Added Third Day frontman Mac Powell: "What an amazing, life-changing tour. To see, from stage, over 180,000 people of different backgrounds and churches all coming together to be entertained and worship was such a gift."
Smith has sold more than 9 million albums over the course of his career, according to his publicist. His 2001 album, "Worship," has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for shipping more than a million copies. His 2002 live album, "Worship Again," hit No. 1 on the Christian album charts.
Third Day, which sold more than 500,000 copies of its 2000 album "Offerings," returns with the live album "Offerings II: All I Have To Give," on March 4. On Sunday (2/23), Third Day picked up its first GRAMMY®--in the Best Rock Gospel Album category--for its 2002 album "Come Together."
