Linkin Park treats fan club members to free pre-album tour

Linkin Park has lined up a tour that will precede the late-March release of its forthcoming album, "Meteora," and is giving members of its fan club free access to the shows.

In addition to free admission, members of the club--dubbed LP Underground--will also be "provided with the opportunity to meet the band members at the Meet & Greets that will be taking place after each performance," according to details posted at the group's website.

"Since before we were even signed, we took an active roll in communicating with our fans," drummer Rob Bourdon said in a statement. "And the purpose of the LP Underground is to maintain that relationship with them as we grow as a band. Our fans are the reason we can continue to play our music."

LP Underground members--there are more than 25,000, according to Warner Bros. Records--will receive tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets will also be sold to the general public beginning March 4.

The 10-date run gets underway in the Boston area on March 11, and wraps up in Los Angeles on March 25, the day the new album hits stores.

Linkin Park's "Meteora" is the follow-up to its 2000 debut, "Hybrid Theory," which was the top-selling album of 2001; it sold more than 8 million copies that year.

Later this year, Linkin Park will join Metallica, Limp Bizkit, the Deftones and Mudvayne for a summer outing dubbed the Summer Sanitarium Tour.
