David Gray to spend summer touring the U.S.

British singer-songwriter David Gray , who wrapped up a swing through the states in mid-February, heads back across the pond this summer for more U.S. dates.

Gray's summer run kicks off on the East Coast in mid-July and works its way West, touching down primarily at amphitheaters.

Last fall, Gray released his latest album, "A New Day at Midnight." The 12-track set, which debuted at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 album chart, was ushered in by lead-off single "The Other Side." The song's companion music video is streaming at Gray's official website.

The site also houses full-length streams of all of the album's tracks, including its latest single, "Be Mine," which just cracked into Billboard's Adult Top 40 chart.

"A New Day at Midnight" is the follow-up to Gray's 2000 breakthrough album, "White Ladder." Originally released on Gray's own indie label in 1999, fellow singer-songwriter Dave Matthews --one of Gray's early advocates--made "White Ladder" the inaugural album from his ATO Records imprint. The album spawned Gray's breakout hit, "Please Forgive Me."

Gray, in a statement posted at his website, addressed the pressure involved in following up his most successful album to date.

"I've never had to follow up the success," he said. "The challenge is to reinvent your music, keep yourself interested, and keep yourself moving forward - to keep it about the right stuff rather than be swamped by money and attention. It means you focus on what's important. Music is far more enjoyable than those things."
