Five Madonna children's books in the works

A series of five children's books penned by Madonna will be published in the U.S. by Callaway Editions, starting with the September release of an illustrated storybook titled "The English Roses."

According to a press release issued by distributor Penguin Group on Monday (3/3), all five books have already been written. Each "will feature a different celebrated illustrator," according to Penguin.

"She has drawn on a lifelong passion for and deep familiarity with literature and children's books to create contemporary classics that combine great storytelling with ravishing art," said Callaway Editions founder and publisher Nicholas Callaway in a statement.

"With these books, Madonna has accomplished something rare and wonderful. Despite the astonishing range and variety of her stories, they all evoke the secret that the red fox shares with the Little Prince: 'It is only with the heart that one can see rightly.' These, too, are magical stories for children of all ages-even grown-up ones."

The target readership for the book will be ages six and older.
