Classic-rock act Boston lines up lengthy summer tour schedule
Boston , an outfit that formed more than 30 years ago, kicks off an extensive road trip in early June to support last year's "Corporate America."
Released last November, "Corporate America" is the group's first new studio set since 1994's "Walk On." The band, which is notorious for letting years lapse between new releases, has turned out only five original albums over the course of its 32-year career.
The shortest of those lapses came in the late '70s; after releasing its self-titled debut in 1976--one of the most successful debut albums of all time--the group delivered a follow-up, "Don't Look Back," two years later.
The band has since established a pattern of offering up a new set once every eight years; the aptly titled "Third Stage" surfaced in 1986, and 1994's "Walk On" preceded the recently released "Corporate America."
Boston exploded on the '70s rock scene with a flurry of hits featured on its debut album, including "More Than a Feeling," "Long Time" and "Peace of Mind."
After years of attrition that resulted in band founder Tom Scholz being the group's only remaining member by the mid '90s, core members Brad Delp (vocals), Fran Cosmo (vocals) and Gary Pihl (guitar) returned to the fold for "Corporate America." The current lineup also includes new members Kimberley Dahme (backing vocals, guitar) and Cosmo's son, Anthony (backing vocals, guitar).
