Kenny Loggins [ tickets ], who racked up a plethora of soundtrack hits throughout the '80s, tours the U.S. this year in support of Columbia/Legacy Records' "The Essential Kenny Loggins."

Loggins' itinerary so far features only a handful of March, April and May dates. Most of the blanks have been filled in from mid-July through mid August, however, with dates primarily concentrated in the western U.S. Tickets for a number of dates are available through Loggins' fan club. "The Essential Kenny Loggins," which surfaced last November, is a two-disc set featuring 35 tracks that span Loggins' recording career from 1972 through 2000. The collection begins with seven tracks by Loggins and former recording partner Jim Messina (Poco); the two recorded three albums together as Loggins & Messina [ tickets ] in the early '70s.

The album's remaining tracks include a bevy of '80s-era soundtrack hits, including "I'm Alright," from 1980's "Caddyshack"; "Footloose" from the 1984 movie of the same name; and "Danger Zone" from 1986's "Top Gun," among others.

"The Essential Kenny Loggins" is part of Columbia/Legacy's "Essential" series. Other artists featured in the series include Tony Bennett, Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen, Miles Davis, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, Heart, Billy Joel, Journey, Santana, Sly & the Family Stone, Barbra Streisand and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
