Phish to follow summer tour with Maine camping event
Jam band Phish sets out in July on a 21-date tour that wraps up with a two-day festival in Maine.
The band, which is backing last December's "Round Room," plays U.S. amphitheaters during most of July, and concludes the road trip with the two-day "It" festival, which takes place on Aug. 2 and 3 at the former Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine.
At the "It" festival, the group is scheduled to perform three full sets on each of the festival's two days.
Beginning on April 18 at 12:01 am. Eastern Time, fans will get a shot at tickets for the July tour dates through Phish's own tickets-by-mail system, which will offer a limited number of tickets during a five-day period. The general on-sale follows on May 9.
Tickets for the "It" festival, meanwhile, go on sale through the band's ticketing system--as well as through Ticketmaster--beginning this Thursday (3/27) at 12 noon Eastern Time, at a cost of $137.50 per ticket, plus additional service charges. The cost includes entry to the two-day event, parking and camping, according to the band's tickets-by-mail website. (Ticketmaster is liveDaily's parent company).
The "It" festival marks Phish's third such event at the site in Maine, and first since 1998. The band is hoping to make some logistical changes this time around, such as placing the stage in a central location that that would make it more accessible to a larger number of fans. The group hopes to arrange for fans to be able to park and camp on the grass at the site, as well, according to Phish's website.
Earlier this year, Phish embarked on a U.S. arena tour in support of "Round Room." The album is the band's first new studio set since 2000's "Farmhouse," and marked the end of the group's two-year touring hiatus. The album's 12 tracks, recorded in four days in October by producer Bryce Goggin (Pavement, the Ramones), clock in at more than 70 minutes.
