Stars come out for Willie Nelson's 70th birthday concert special
An all-star cast that includes Eric Clapton, Sheryl Crow , Norah Jones and Shania Twain will be on hand at New York's Beacon Theater on April 9 to help Willie Nelson celebrate his 70th birthday.
Ray Charles, Kenny Chesney, Merle Haggard , Toby Keith, Kris Kristofferson, Jerry Lee Lewis, Lyle Lovett, John Mellencamp, Shelby Lynne, Ray Price, Leon Russell and ZZ Top are also scheduled to appear at the show.
According to promoters, tickets for the concert are scheduled to hit the market at 10 a.m. ET on Friday (3/28).
The event will be taped for a two-hour broadcast titled "Willie Nelson and Friends: Live and Kickin'," to premiere on the USA Network on Memorial Day (5/26) at 9 p.m. ET, with an encore presentation to immediately follow. The show will also be repeated on May 31 and June 1.
Nelson was born on April 30, 1933, in Fort Worth, Texas. He continues to spend most of his time on the road, and recently kicked off his latest round of tour dates. His 70th birthday lands in the middle of a five-night stand at the Horseshoe Casino in Bossier City, La.
