Cher Begins Final Leg Of Her "Do You Believe" Tour
Having notched the most successful album and single of her 35-year career, Cher has lined up a new slate of North American tour dates. The 20-city outing, which will play major arenas, opens Jan. 28 in Salt Lake City.
According to a press release issued by Warner Bros. Records, the new dates will be the final leg of Cher's ''Do You Believe?'' tour, which opened this spring and has played to more than 1 million fans worldwide.
According to the label, tickets for Cher's Los Angeles (2/2) and San Jose (2/5) performances will go on sale this weekend, with additional on-sales to begin next week.
When ''Believe'' reached number one on Billboard's ''Hot 100'' singles chart in March, the 52-year-old Cher became the oldest artist of the rock era to top the chart. It was also her first No. 1 single since 1974, when ''Dark Lady'' topped the charts, giving Cher the longest gap between consecutive No. 1 hits in the chart's history, according to Billboard charts analyst Fred Bronson.
''Believe'' topped the chart 33 years after ''I Got You Babe,'' her first No. 1 hit with Sonny Bono, making Cher the artist with No. 1 hits that span the most years.
